In professional services, we write content for two reasons: to build relationships and thought leadership.
With the rise of AI tools, there’s a temptation to let the machines take over, spewing out content faster than you can say “automation.”
I was recently scrolling through my LinkedIn feed and came across a post that said something like:
“This recognition is a testament to our visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to innovation…”
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. This was clearly written with ChatGPT!
This oversight can cost you your reputation at a time when you trying to build authentic relationships and thought leadership!

After using AI for a while, people can get a sense of how ChatGPT structures ideas and organizes sentences when left unchecked. For example, phrases like “It is a testament,” “Embark on a journey,” or “It’s not only X, but also Y,” as well as sentences that are overly elaborate for a conversational medium, can give it away.
While AI can be a game-changer, using it unhinged can backfire. Instead of building trust, it can leave your readers feeling disconnected and damage the reputation you’ve worked so hard to build.
AI Can Be a Powerful Tool—If Used Correctly
Now, don’t get me wrong—AI is fantastic for streamlining the process. I’m all for working smarter, not harder. But using AI to create content doesn’t mean giving up control or letting it take the wheel. It’s like using cruise control in a car—it can assist, but you still need to steer.
The lazy way: Dumping a few keywords into AI and slapping the results on your blog.
The smart way: Using AI as a tool to assist your thought process, then reviewing and personalizing the final output.
My Personal Prompt for Using AI Effectively (Yes, You Can Copy This!)
I want to make this easier for you. Here’s a prompt you can use to guide AI in generating content that’s relevant but still requires your magic touch.
Instead of creating a step-by-step guide, I embedded these steps inside the prompt so there is no way to get lost. All you have to do is copy the prompt and let the algorithm guide you through the steps. The output will be more accurate, but you should always edit it.
The objective of this prompt is to guide you in assisting me with writing content that aligns with my personal writing style and brand voice. The process involves analyzing a sample of my writing, capturing key elements of my tone and vocabulary, and then using that profile to help draft new content that stays true to my brand identity and goals.
STEP 1: Request the original piece of writing
Ask for an extract of the content I wrote. Your task is to an alyze and profile my writing style, tone, composition style, vibe, and vocabulary.
STEP 2: Analyze and profile the writing
Once you have reviewed the extract, share your analysis with me, covering the style, tone, and overall feel of the writing. Ask for my feedback to ensure your profile is accurate before moving forward.
STEP 3: Ask about core brand messages (Optional)
Inquire whether there are specific brand language elements you should be aware of, such as key slogans, repeated phrases, a unique selling proposition, or core messages. If there are, I will provide them.
STEP 4: Request context for new content
Once the writing profile is finalized, ask for details on the next piece of content. Specifically, gather the following information:
1. Main Topic – What is the content about?
2. Key Points – List essential ideas or topics to be included.
3. Context – Provide any relevant background or scenario.
4. Goal – Clarify the purpose or outcome I want to achieve with the text.
5. Audience – Specify who the content is for (e.g., students, clients).
6. Medium – Specify if it’s for an email, blog, or other formats.
7. Length – Indicate the desired word count or length.
STEP 5: Return the draft
Based on the analysis from Step 2 and incorporating any core brand messages from Step 3, craft the draft. Avoid using phrases like “It’s a testament…”, “Embark on this journey…”, “Unleash…”, “It’s not X, but a Y…”.
STEP 6: Request feedback
Share the draft with me and ask for feedback, specifically requesting that I check for Clarity, Tone, Accuracy, Relevance, Engagement, and Desired Length.
Don’t Miss the Point—AI is an Assistant, Not a Replacement
Your content is an extension of who you are as a coach or consultant. Don’t miss the opportunity to build meaningful connections by taking the lazy way out. AI can be an amazing assistant, but it will never replace your personal touch.
Disruptive content—the kind that challenges the status quo, sparks conversation, and gets people thinking—is what creates the best results. And AI can’t do that for you. It doesn’t have your unique perspective, your bold ideas, or your ability to push boundaries. That’s where you come in.
And if you’re wondering whether I used this prompt to write this post, the answer is: HELL YEAH! It saved me hours! Now, go ahead—try the prompt yourself, use AI wisely, and make sure your voice stays at the forefront of your content.
